Clear, warm days and cool refreshing nights make summer in Fourteener Country heaven in the outdoors. How you enjoy it is up to you. The hard part may be picking from your options.
Feeling energetic? Try camping in untouched wilderness. Hike on trails that pioneers once tread upon. Climb one of the many 14,000+ foot area peaks. Mountain bike into the Wild West and see the mines this region was known for. Also, world class fishing and whitewater rafting await your arrival.
Need to relax? Enjoy a scenic mountain drive, explore old ghost towns, window shop the historic streets of our quaint mountain towns, or mingle with others in the many summer festivals of the area. Whatever you decide, with over 300 days of sunshine per year, you want to be sure you wear sunglasses and sunscreen.
As for the fall season, the temperatures cool and the trees turn a variety of colors. Drive among quiet roads that are surrounded by shimmering aspen leaves. Many of the summer activities are still doable in the fall, although albeit at cooler temperatures.
